Marine Ventures Foundation funds a wide range of projects on there continents with a current focus on multimedia projects: documentary films and photography, social media projects and educational citizen science projects. Our objective is to drive awareness and protection of the most important wild places on the planet. We believe that protecting local community, culture and heritage is as important as protecting the physical habitat. The endless search and extraction mineral wealth in both marine and terrestrial environments continues unabated. In the Colorado River, water is extracted for human consumption, agriculture and energy production. In the Kimberley region of Western Australia, oil and gas are planning to be extracted at a scale that will without doubt, dislocate the cultural and heritage. In both locations, Marine Ventures has jumped into the project with guns blazing.
Our criteria for selecting and funding projects is based on three simple requirements:
- a biologically significant ecosystem with a strong human cultural heritage
- committed and capable local conservation partners who have made a long term commitment to their work
- a set of objectives, milestones and results that are feasible for the resources available (time, money and people)
While we do not accept unsolicited proposals given our small size and volunteer team (we have no full time employees), we are open to cutting edge projects in the right places on the planet. Interested people can email us at info@marineventures.org and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
